Yearbook Update

This message is for all Woodroffe families who pre-ordered a yearbook - on behalf of the Woodroffe School Council.

Due to the defective binding, please note that ALL yearbooks have been re-printed and will be distributed on Thursday, June 30th.  If your child will not be at school on the last day, we will keep their yearbook for them until September or arrangements can be made for pick up over the summer.

We apologize for the delay in distributing the yearbooks and realize that it has been a frustrating process.  We are confident that the new copy will be more securely bound and a wonderful keepsake for students for many years to come.

The Green Hearts at Woodroffe Avenue Public School have a had a fantastic year as a certified Ontario EcoSchool! It is excellent that your team is taking a leadership role by creating a stop motion video for your school on how to sort waste properly. It is great that so many students were monitoring your Energy Conservation practices.

Having compost bins in all classrooms is a best practice deserving of full recognition. Your students are very engaged in your School Ground Greening projects and it is great to see that they are being used for classroom learning. Your students had many opportunities to learn in, about and for the environment this year. Good campaigns this year. Your Earth Hour invited all your students to engage in an environmental action and is deserving of full recognition. 

Congratulations Green Hearts! We look forward to seeing what you do in the years to come.

Parent School Climate Survey - DEADLINE Extended to June 19th!

Hopefully you have found a few minutes to complete our Parent School Climate Survey. This confidential survey is an important way for parents to share their thoughts about school climate.  Your feedback is so important and will help us to build a school environment which is inclusive, safe and caring. To ensure all parents have a chance to respond, we are extending the survey until end of day on June 19th.   You can access the survey using the following link www.ourschool.net  All families received an email with our school's login information.

School Climate Survey - REMINDER

Dear Woodroffe Parents:

Please take a few minutes to complete the "OurSCHOOL" survey developed by The Learning Bar. It is being administered across the OCDSB. It is anonymous, voluntary, confidential, and will take approximately 20 minutes to complete. The parent survey is open for participation from June 1–15, 2016.

 

All Ontario school boards are required by the Ministry to conduct school climate surveys of students, school staff and parents at least once every two years. More information about the survey is available on the OCDSB website www.ocdsb.ca. 

Visit www.ourschool.net about to start the survey. 

The login information was sent out to all families via email last week. If you cannot find the login information, please call the school.

USED BOOK SALE and SPRING FLING

PLEASE NOTE:  The message below has been posted on behalf our our WAPS School Council.

Woodroffe's annual Spring Fling is just a few days away (Fri, June 10th 4:30-8pm)!!   We need more volunteers to help make the event a success.  Please see the volunteer list (http://vols.pt/ir5duz) for job descriptions and which shifts still need volunteers.  Or you can email wapscouncil.volunteers@gmail.com to sign up manually.

Please see the Spring Fling attachment for more specific event information.  Note that food and ride tickets must be purchased with cash at the event.

BOOK SALE:

Students are invited to shop with their class on Wed, June 8th and Thurs, June 9th.  Students are encouraged to bring $1-$5.  Children's softcover and board books will be 2/$1 and chapters books, hardcover and graphic novels will be $1 each.  The book sale will also include adult fiction books and will be open to the public from 6-8pm on Thurs, June 9th.

Please note that games, DVDs, and puzzles will only be sold at the Spring Fling main event on Friday. See the attached Book Sale flyer for more information.  Thank you to all families that have donated books to our sale!
